About Me

Hi there, I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Daniela (she/her) and I’ve been a bilingual psychotherapist for more than 10 years. I was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, the only child to two Mexican immigrants. And like many children of immigrant parents, I found myself not only trying my best to navigate two cultures, each with different ways of living and expectations, but also tying my self worth and family’s well being to my achievements. Needless to say, that journey came with a lot of unpacking to do.

My passion for therapy and the work I do with clients  is rooted in doing my own complex trauma work with therapists who truly understood me. They offered a judgment free and nurturing space where I could lay it all out on the table, helped me work through my overwhelm and make sense of things.

I’m passionate about supporting folks with childhood trauma, high functioning depression and anxiety, and body image/disordered eating struggles because I’ve been there, and I get it. I know those low, messy, and dark places well enough to have my own personal path out.

So when I say that you’re not alone, and that you don’t have to suffer in silence, I mean it. Your personal path will be unique to you, so we won’t lean on mine, but I want you to know that I’ve fought my way through, too. And I truly believe that you have the ability, resilience and inner resources to find your way through as well.

About My Approach

In my opinion, one of the most important factors in getting to a place of grounding and healing, is having a strong connection and fit with your therapist. In our work together, you’ll find that my style is warm, compassionate, and empathetic. I try my best to make therapy not feel rigid or colorless by bringing in my personality, humor and authentic self into each session, and fully welcome you bringing these into our work together as well.

I don’t see therapy as a one size fits all approach. Depending on what’s going on for you and what you’d like to explore, each session will be different. For example, some sessions will focus on building coping skills to manage symptoms, while other sessions will go more in depth into complex trauma and focus on inner child or family system work. From a person-centered approach, I pull in from different therapies and tools as needed.
